Have you seen a Sea Angel?

This pic was taken in the same aquarium from where I posted pics here.

Have you seen a tiny fish? Ive always seen fishes in aquarium and most of them are visible by naked eye that too very clearly.When roaming through the aquarium I saw a crowd of people peering through the glass for something. I coudnt understand what they were doing , when pushed myself inside there I saw the actual reason. There was a magnifier attached to the glass to see this fish properly.

As soon as I saw this I could understand why it is named as Sea angel. It really does look like an angel with wings and a faint glow. I read a blog recently in which a couple went on a boat and caught lots of sea angels (searched for the blog cudnt find it now) . Thats when I knew that Sea angels are a common name for few and that they move together hundreds and thousands of it in seas.

It was really lovely . Have you heard of Sea Angel or seen it ?

My dad has always been an inspiration to me (the same way it is for everyone else I guess). It still amazes me on how he has been able to manage the finances, spending so much on our education and other things, when I already have a tough time, though I apparently earn more than he earns now.

Since we were kids (me and my sisters) would you believe that he has not once shouted at us.

Best thoughts about my dad

Stupid superstitions

There are some superstition that everyone follows even though you know its stupid .No Idea where they have originated but its stuck into peoples mind,They are followed religiously and spread through next generations.Here are some superstitions.

If you see a black crow(all crows are black some are black completely) if have to hit yourself in head if you don’t it is bad luck. This is soo stupid , This I never followed in school even though my friends used to insist .It is so lame.

If you laugh a lot then the laughter might be jinxed and something might happen. It always used to happen in school/college and office too. We used to sit together chat and laugh a lot and someone says we are laughing a lot something might happen.

Step into a place with right leg. first day of school/college/important days going anywhere start with right leg. Somehow I always start walking with left leg first so I never could follow it. I always enter temple with left leg unintentionally for which my mom always scolded me.

Hitting on the top of head might make you short. I’ve heard this a lot in school. my friends used to say not to hit as they might become short as if we’re pushing them down. they also used to hit below the chin to grow tall :p

dont break mirror and dont look into broken mirror its bad luck.

if there is a black cat coming across you while walking its bad luck. This is followed seriously by everyone its religious superstition too.

If you say ‘best of luck’ it means ‘best half luck’ . i remember people saying this to others when they want them not to have luck.

‘Touch wood’ it says it all.. when people talk at the same time they touch wood. whoever touches it first the luck’s theirs or saying ‘luck is mine kick is yours’.another version ‘luck is mine luck is mine’. I do that now too

If you hand over salt directly then you might get into fights with them. Its followed seriously.

Its bad luck to cut nails on friday. In Hinduism friday is the day of Lakshmi godessess of wealth and you not supposed to cut hair/nails on this day.

While i remember others start sharing yours.

Wish of heart Chapter 6

A party with Sid .Things have gone crazy ,Rhea was literally shocked and stalled .My reaction ?.. I dint know what to react. I first thought he was crazy, then thought he’s trying to tease me saying he was kidding about it and I would become the dumbass. I was thinking so hard that nothing registered in my mind.

“Hey Nina.. Why do you always think so hard?’

“eh”

“Are you too happy to come with me that you’ve blacked out”

This brought me back. This guy seriously takes me for granted and goes on with his doings. Did he think I’ll fall on my feet and say yes when he asks me. Nina would never do that.

“I’ve other plans “ I told with stern voice showing my authoritarian

“But I dint say when and where was the party . What time do you have the plans”

“I’m not coming either way.. u can count me out”

“Party’s at 7 pm this Saturday I can pick you up”

“But im not coming”

“Think about it and tell me.. no need to hurry .. I’m sure you want to come”

Rhea started laughing as soon as he left. What did just happen. I always end up angry whenever I meet this guy. Seeing Rhea laughing makes me even more angry.

“Cut it out Rhea”

“Sorry Nina you expression was hilarious when he was talking. I’ve never seen him talking to you directly only what you’ve told me. I’m truly with you in this . he really is self-centered . But somehow I also find it cute and romantic “

Even I did find him cute. Not Him .. but the way he talked.. he was cute too. With sharp eyes as if he’s reading my thoughts and smiling always. I shouldn’t think that way.

I saw Tanu running towards us.With a big grin on her face. That means trouble for me. She’s quite amused by what happened just now. She started talking running towards us. Not talking shouting “ Hes got some nerve talking to you like you’re his girlfriend”.

That’s true he always does that. I don’t know what to do Tanu .How to make him realize that I’m not someone he can boss around always.
“I get that but I dint hear what he said.. what did he talk.. tell me tell me”

Rhea told her the whole story. Both of them started giggling and laughing the whole time with analysis on my expressions and his . They totally forgot I was standing there all along.

“So guys what should I do” I shouted loud enough to get their attention.

Tanu look surprised “ what do you mean what should I do were you considering whether to go or not . I thought you hated him and would not even think about considering his invitation”

“I dint mean like that”. Ok now I sounded stupid. It was simple as Tanu said I don’t like him nor have any intention to go out with him. I don’t have to think about going or not. I already told him clearly that im not coming for the party. What am I thinking about then . I just smiled and shrugged to leave things out for now.

The whole week I dint meet Sid. He dint even ask me if I’m really going. Either he’s confirmed that I’m coming or he took my No for answer and looked for other partner. I was looking for ways to confirm him that I wont be coming. Not knowing what kind of party he’s going to, I don’t want him to be without partner, Not that I care but I felt its my courtesy to let him know I’m not available. But this guy always comes late and starts as soon as the class ends. I even tried stalking him one day to talk to him alone but he’s always with friends around . If he’s not bothered by it then why should I .

Saturday started out very slow. I got up very late from bed much to irritation to my mom. I told her ill help out in cleaning the house which I did most of the day. I rearranged my wardrobe cleaned out my room after a week. I realized why my mom scolds me about my room. I couldn’t find most of my stuff for the whole week and before that too.some were lying under the bed. Found some food in the wardrobe , hair dryer in basket somewhere in the corner. It was like a treasure chest . cleaning one part of room finding something after a long time. Tired the whole day cleaning and helping around I dozed early after lunch.

I got up suddenly with heavy knocking on my door.

“Nina get up”
“Mom im sleeping .. i don’t want to eat anything now”

“Nina not food.. someones here for you”
“ Tell Tanu ill stop by later.. don’t disturb me”

“your friend Sid is here.. waiting for you.. he mentioned some party”

“Wwhhat”

I quickly opened the door and rushed down the stairs to see if it’s really him. He really is here.. went back upstairs checked myself and came down.

“I’m sorry I dint introduce myself earlier. I’m Sidharth people call me Sid. Im Ninas friend.. classmate. “

“Ohh. I guess I heard your name .Nina was sleeping dear .. Guess she forgot about the party .. she always does that”

“Its okay aunty I’ll wait for her . I should have called up first. I thought she might have told you about the party. I told her a week ago. Hope you don’t mind me taking for party Ill get her back by 10pm. You can have my number for emergency”

“I don’t mind unless you get her back early. Hope theres no alcohol there . Take care of her.”

Sid was smiling when I came down. Smirking.

“Nina youre late.. are you coming to the party like this”

“Im not coming to party Ive to go out now”

I saw my mom giving me looks. “ You’ve to learn to socialize Nina. Always within you group wont give you more friends. You shudnt wait someone get ready quick and come down”

“Mom….”

I dint throw tantrums there. I dragged myself up and sat in front of wardrobe. What should I wear . What kind of party is it where is it.. without knowing that how can I get ready. He looked quite casual. I searched around and found a simple floral skirt and a top. Matched it with contrast earrings and my favourite stilettos. I dint want to put effort to go out with him but I can’t just wear anything too.

I went down . he was still waiting for me. What else could happen. Said my good byes to my mom I saw him standing next to a Volkswagen. He opened the door for my , gentleman’ but still I don’t want to go. I sat there without interest trying to show my rejection “

“Where are we going” I asked sleepily

“To my home”

Vegetarian in a Sea food restaurant

Recently our team decided to get ourselves treated and were looking out for restaurants to eat. There was a unique blend of people with multiple food restrictions.Few guys were good enough to eat anything, one guy only halal,few with less spicy food and I the vegetarian.They considered all restaurants where they were sure some veg food was served for me and ended up deciding to go to a Thai restaurant.

We all were happy to find something where everyone can enjoy and started our trip to eat.As we walked towards it a placard faced us with ‘Undergoing Renovation’. All our hopes were smashed and thrown aside but were still in high spirits. The next search for restaurant started. We ended up in a restaurant which had good name attached to it.
Walking in the restaurant I can’t help but notice there is little vegetarian food. There was all kinds of meat everywhere. It was an international cuisine restaurant and provided all meat everyone ate. Apart from the usual chicken, mutton kind of meat the seafood side was overwhelming with food. There were lots of sushi and all sea food on ice. Oysters,clams,fish,crab I don’t know the remaining names .

I started my mission to find veg food among the sea of seafood (funny phrase). My friend was sweet enough to guide me through the food and tell me the ingredients of them. I managed to find a veg sushi, a veg pizza and some veg salads. The waiters there saw my plight and approached me . They told me they would provide with veg soup and a veg fried rice specially for me. I could have jumped with joy except I can’t jump in the middle of restaurant.

I ended up having my veg food and the whole desserts section is opened for me. Stuffed myself with cakes,pastries,ice creams,puddings and fruits and had to run little extra that day. But loved the food, some were visually pleasing i hoped there were veg options for those dishes.

I cant imagine how the Vegans can manage where there very few vegan restaurants. Have you guys found any issues with food and cuisines while living in other countries?
