A girl like me – Review

When browsing through books in the store my friend suggested this book. Though its been some time this is released dint bother to read it. Well after getting a good feedback I decided to read it. The teenage school going story dosent suit me was the first impression I had. But loved it till the end. A good book for a light read with a cup of coffee. I started this book at 2.30 am ( yaa in the middle of night) and completed it by 8.30 am . A book which I cudnt keep down and gave me sleepless night. The author wrote it beautifully with freshness and a spark in it.
The story is about a girl who comes back home to India after living in US from childhood after the demise of her father. She and her mom share a very special bond . She becomes close to her childhood friend Keds and makes good friends at school. Later has a huge crush on the drama teacher( alumni and college student) and starts going out with him. He turns out to be a brat. She and her workaholic mom shifts to an apartment where she befriends a girl Rani her neighbours cousin. Rani gets illtreated at home and she invites to stay at her house. Though initially their friendship blossoms , she gets jealous of Rani who being the perfect in cooking, household and studies is always praised and taken care by everyone around her. She runs away to her fathers hometown and later comes back to her mom who understands her emotions and thoughts.
My summary might not have done justice to the book. I recommend this book for light reading and for those who like reading about personal emotions. The way the author have written the dialogues between the workaholic mom and her daughter is very apt to the way the lifestyle is now. The emotions and numerous thoughts one have at a teenage are well written. I sure thought back to my teenage days while reading this.
Should be some book to begin at 2:30 AM in the morning & stay up rest of the night to complete it. Must have been quite a day at work!
